ADVANCE Values
These values were developed by the ADVANCE staff. These values reflect who we strive to be as a unit on campus and to ourselves as colleagues. Through many iterations, we narrowed down our core values to these five items.
Embody integrity
Behave ethically; ensure confidentiality; represent the experiences of our U-M community impartially and accurately in our work; develop and share best practices.
Practice justice and equity
Embody respect, compassion, empathy, and support for others; listen to critical or marginalized voices; celebrate the diversity of voices and create opportunities to hear them.
Push boundaries
Serve as a vanguard for campus-wide conversations on diversity, equity, and inclusion; learn and incorporate new ideas into our work.
Collaborate
Seek inter- and intra-unit collaboration; work together with a sense of curiosity; share our skills and findings.
Center the data
Develop initiatives that are evidence-based; evaluate our work to inform future directions; share data with campus to inform policies and practices.
