The Chair’s (or Associate Dean’s) Role in Hiring

This workshop will offer an opportunity for department chairs and associate deans who play a critical role in the search process to discuss some of the particularly crucial and tricky aspects of their role in the process of recruiting diverse and excellent faculty. STRIDE Committee members, including current and former chairs, will share information about research-based best practices, feedback from search committee members who have participated in STRIDE workshops, as well as lessons learned from experiences in their own departments about effective hiring practices. Participants will also have time to exchange ideas, and experiences, and to learn from each other.
